In the last 12 months, I’ve spent over 1000 hours talking to traders trying to become more successful most complex money making games in the world.

It’s allowed me to draw a lot of conclusions and identify categories of problems and archetypes of traders.

Markets are complex. The learning curve is steep. Trading is difficult.

Not impossible, but a technical, mental and emotional game that creates a lot of personal challenge.

There are many market myths and misdirecting “education” (really, marketing) aimed at keeping beginners off balance and waste years of time chasing more knowledge without a complete system.

Nothing works until it is fully understood and adapted to be fit for purpose.

There’s a lot of unlearning to be done in many cases.

Some of the major problems I have identified are around:

Timeframe usage
Higher timeframe analysis
Defining setups
Copy trading and system hopping
Knowing range and key levels
Self awareness
Psychology of markets
Market mechanics and liquidity
Institutional order flow and portfolio strategies

There’s many more I could list, but knowledge of these areas as well as the principles that add up to best practice in trading keeps a lot of people from the success they want, and could achieve if they put together a development roadmap with a focus on systematic trading.

I started off last year offering one to one consultations, and next week I’ll be running 50 of these for free.

Talking to traders at various levels is essential for me to improve what I offer in terms of ideas, systems and self development for traders.
